Shop Smart. Feel good.

There is NO secret here!
I am a college girl on a college budget.
School, books, rent, utilities, food, and fun... reality is... it all adds up!
Who would have thought :)

So there are two options..
one. Have money stress you out? And live pay check to pay check... hmmm no thanks!
Or
two. Be smart with your money, budget and find the deals...

I choose OPTION TWO!

BUDGET: I know how much school expenses are going to be, so I put that money away. I know what rent is and on average what utilities is, so I put that aside. I allocate the amount I will allow myself to spend on food and fun... and leave extra to either put away in savings or use in emergency.
It truly is THAT simple.

DEALS: How good does it feel when you leave a store knowing... you got more for your money!
So I always shop around before I make a purchase... and if I can wait for it, amazon provides you with everything and more at a good price!
Finding deals takes time, no doubt, but over time the benefit far exceeds the time commitment. Plus, once you find a place that is always the deal, you can go back again and again... no time searching for the deal needed.

Which leads me to my "accomplishment" today! I went to the grocery store to get my fresh produce and this is what I got:
- 4 cucumbers... $.79
- 6lbs oranges... $.75 (I am not crazy... I am making fresh orange juice!)
- .75lb green beans... $.52
- .66lb cabbage... $.41
- .3.2lbs roma tomatoes... $.79
- 1.69lbs red bell pepper... $.79
- 2.05 lbs carrots... $.51
- .56lb onion... $.06
- .93lb black beans... $.46
- .31lb limes... $.10
- .81lb apples... $.40
- 1.14lbs pears... $.38
- .47lb jalapenos... $.16
- 1.35lbs squash... $.67
- 2.74lbs jicama... $.90
- 1.29lbs broccoli... $.64
- Mustard... $.99
TOTAL = $9.32
I would have to say that is pretty darn good! And I have food for the full next week! (Ofcourse I have staple things at home to add to it aka chicken, salmon, yogurt, oatmeal...etc...)

See! It is possible!
Shop smart. Feel good!

With all these fresh veggies... lunch was a stuffed red bell pepper with tuna, jalapenos, onions, tomato, and mustard... yumyum!

And dinner was a protein pizza with green beans on the side... So good!
And what does sliced oranges about to be juiced look like....

And then they went into the juicer... and fresh orange juice was underway!

Happy Hump Day!
