I put this out as a warning... this post is lots of words... and ONE picture :)
The last few weeks have been a whole lot of fun. Work hard... play hard right?!
I finished up at one client and started a new one on Monday with a new team. They are all great! Super helpful and fun to be around! I am really really enjoying this internship and am super sad to see the end so close. I have one more week on this client and then I am off to Orlando Florida for a EY conference! Can't beat that!
Food and Fitness:
5am has become the norm. Get up... work out... come home... shower... get ready... and make a green monster to go! (Here is the one and only picture :) take it all in!)
So this probably looks so gross to many many people. And the ingredients probably sound even worse.
But all I have to say... don't diss it till you try it!
This smoothie included:
- two handfuls of spinach
- half a banana
- tbls of Dark Chocolate Coca Powder (I finally found Dark Chocolate!)
- half a vanilla carbmaster yogurt
- 6 ice cubes
Add a little bit of water... and BLEND!
DeLiCiOuS!
I found that taking a smoothie to go was the best way to get a good post workout breakfast in. And when I am sitting in traffic on my way to work, it makes the sitting a little more enjoyable :)
I continue to be spoiled with lunch paid for by the client... so it is lunch out everyday with my team!
This past week we brought lunch in (aka I went and picked it up and brought it in... the perks of being an intern!)...
Monday: Chipotle --- I got a veggie burrito bowl with extra lettuce and salsa. We ordered it online, and I forgot to request NO rice... so it came with a huge pile of rice which I moved to the side :) It all worked out!
Tuesday: Cafe Rio... chicken burrito bowl, no rice and black beans... extra salsa....
Wednesday: Arriba Grill.... veggie burrito bowl, no rice black beans... extra salsa...
did you notice a trend... mexican... mexican.. and oh wait... mexican... I do LOVE mexican but by day four.. I requested we do something a little different :)
Thursday: I can't remember the name but it was some bbq grill place... I got a plain grilled chicken breast with a garden side salad no dressing... It was delicious!
Friday: We went to this small bagel shop by the client... I got a harvest chicken salad... and instead of saying everything I didn't get on it, I'll include what I did... Basically it was roman lettuce, chicken, apple slices, and almond slivers with a dash of red vinegar... Light and filling... perfect Friday lunch!
Each day I bring a snack. Lunch usually comes around 11:30... so there is no way I can make it till 6 or later without eating. I usually bring an orange, and then a Oatfit oatmeal. These are amazing and delicious! Right now I am hooked on the cinnamon roll flavor! I highly recommend trying it!
Overall, I have to say I am proud of the eating habits I have maintained. With free food in sight, from lunches, dinners, donuts, bagels.... the list goes on and on... it is hard to say no... but... mentally and physically I know I will feel better with just sticking to what my body is used to.
But that doesn't mean... you can't give in every once in awhile :)
Big Sister Saturday!
Yesterday, EY had a volunteer day at the local Big Brothers and Sisters of Orange County. We went down in the morning to met up with a group of kids and took them down into Newport to two different nature centers to look around and have some time outside.
It was an AMAZING experience! There was more children then volunteers so I got assigned to two little 8 year old boys. And can I just say... I WISH I had the energy they do! By the end of the day, I was so exhausted! Holy Cow!
But I walked away with three things in my mind:
one. I am really fortunate to have the family and people in my life growing up. You never realize how lucky you are and were until you see that not everyone is blessed with it.
two. This program is more then great, and I want to do more with it. Hopefully, be a Big Sister one day assigned to a particular kid. How cool would that be?!
and three. I am soooooooo NOT ready for children! So not ready!
Happy Sunday! Merry Monday! and Enjoy the beautiful week ahead! God is GOOD!
