Like take all my clothes off and jump in the pool HOT!
Tuesday it was HOT.
Wednesday it was HOTTER.
Thursday it was HOTTEST!
and now, come Friday... it is cool?!?
This weekend is suppose to be 77? Really?!
Well I guess I shouldn't be complaining... just means a more enjoyable comfortable day :) WooHoo!
Friday's have always been my "what workout should I do" day.
I used to attend a pilates class and yoga class with cardio in between Friday mornings but once my internship started I couldn't make the times anymore. My first thought, of course, was dang... there goes my Friday routine. But in all actually the change was for the best. Since I wasn't able to go, I realized that I never really liked going in the first place. The women in the class were always grumpy, the instructor treated us like we had no idea what working out was, the gym was old and gross, nobody there every seemed friendly, and it was a slightly ridiculous drive. So why did I ever go..? Hmmm... Funny how things work out.
Friday workouts are always a weird day. I lift and do continuous cardio Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. This leaves Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday to be my days for interval cardio and yoga. So what to do with that awkward Friday?
I have decided I am going to change it up every week. If I find a good workout on one of the blogs I follow I will do that. If I decided to go and play it by ear... I will do that! Friday will be the do whatever day! Kind of fun, right?
So today is Friday.... if you didn't already know :)... And I decided I would sleep in since I had no real good reason to get to the gym early. So around 8:30am the apartment complex decided it was time to mow the lawn outside my window = an alarm clock! Rise and shine! (I was just as surprised as you.... I slept until 8:30!)
Pre-workout meal:
- Half a carrot cake carbmaster yogurt with one shredded carrot, 1/4 melted banana, and a dash of cinnamon. Yum!
I got to the gym around 9:30 (side note: I go to the gym at such a set schedule that the same people are always there...so this morning it was kind of fun to "people watch" new people in a non creepy way ofcourse... come one...Everyone does it, I just am one to admit it!)
I got on the treadmill to run and decided I was going to cover my screen and run to ten songs... sooooo...
TaaaaaDaaaa.... After a wonderful mix of ten songs ranging from Lollipop to Spice Girls... I finished at about 4.7 miles and 38.5 minutes... Not too shabby :)
I then followed this with a cool down on the stair master to let me legs "walk in out"....soooo...
Here it was... 20 minutes stair after stair... I just love this thing! :)
I finished my morning at the gym with some stretching, abs, and random muscle exercised upstairs.
For a no plan Friday... I think this workout turned out alright!
Post Workout Meal: Kale, Broccoli, and Eggwhite Scramble topped with nutritional yeast, onion, and jalapeno peppers.
and then I went back for seconds... more Kale and some more Broccoli..
Dang! This stuff is delicious!
I lounged around for awhile... doing... I couldn't even tell you what I was doing but before I knew it time was going by.
I needed to run to Costco... so finally I got myself going and showered... and off I went! Samples today hit the SPOT! Lets see... I had a sliver of pumpkin pie (my FAVORITE pie!), a piece of an uncrustable (Childhood memories written all over this), a piece of a blueberry eggo (where were these when I was young?), a piece of a kudos bar (after soccer snack.. bringing it back to kindergarten!), and what else... some almonds (I feel like those are always being sampled), and some coffee drink (aka I wanna be Starbucks). But nonetheless, I left with a very happy tummy. Costco samples are the best... no bueno for you and if you read any health advice.. they will advise you to avoid samples. It is true... the calories do add up without you thinking about it... but what I like to do is, NOT think about it and enjoy the wonderful tastes of products I would probably NEVER buy. A sample never hurt anyone right?
I ran a few other errands so when I got home I decided I should probably fuel my body with something so I could make it until dinner time. In my last post I shared with you all the wonderful carrot cake with actual carrot yogurt I made. Today, I would like to share with you the carrot cake with actual carrot smoothie I made!
Looks much better then other smoothies I have shown, huh?
This included:
- the other half of my carrot cake carbmaster yogurt from this morning
- 5 ice cubes
- 1 shredded carrot
- sprinkle of nutmeg and cinnamon
- vanilla extract
- a splash of water to get the blending going..
soo what are you waiting for... give it a try already?!!! :)
For dinner I have a new recipe I plan to make. Black Bean Pumpkin burgers with a side of some cucumber tomato dish I haven't quite decided on yet. I will have to let you know how that turns out! Hopefully pretty good, as I am one hungry girl! Costco samples were good... but they aren't quite holding me over.
Last night I was having the brownie craves. I am a SUCKER for brownies! And nothing beats my Grandma Louie's brownies.. and that was all that was on my mind! I.must.eat.brownie.now!
So I pulled out my can of black beans... and put my innovation baking to the test! I have tried this before and followed an online recipe... but I was in a rush. I.must.eat.brownie.now!
No time for recipe... just wing it!
So I combined:
- a little less then 1/2 cup black beans
- 1 eggwhite
- 1 packet of truvia sweetener
- 1 large tablespoon of Dark Chocolate Cocoa
- 1 tablespoon instant coffee
- dash vanilla extract
- dash of baking powder
and some water to make it a brownie consistency.
Preheated the oven at 350.. heard the beeeeepppp... and put this little piece of "heaven" into the oven for 15 minutes...
The result:
| I sprinkled some oatmeal on top for decoration. But overall this wasn't too bad. No Grandma Louie brownie here.. but it worked to satisfy the craving! |
