The "HORROR" Story Everyone Tells... comes true!

Yesterday I expressed my excitement to get the chance to watch my little brother play in the State semi game tonight. However, God wasn't quite on the same page as me I guess..
The day started at about 2am when I couldn't sleep because I was coughing every other minute (probably driving my poor roommate nuts, Laura, I apologize) so I went out to the living room and slept on the couch.
This turned into me not waking up to my alarm for cycle and waking up merely in time to take a shower and get ready for my other roommate to bring me to the airport (thanks Sarah, you rock!).
Okay so, I didn't work out... aka I am slightly in a bad mood that is just the way it works... I didn't sleep well... okay that adds to the bad mood... but hey! I am headed home so of course that is something to be looking forward to right?
I walk into this airport... and let me just say it was no Denver International Airport by ANY means... It was sketchy... everyone there looked kind of sketchy... but my flight was cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for... and for the next nine hours I was going to experience it all!
First, the check-in desk doesn't open until 9:20... I arrive at 9 so I get to wait. Okay... No big deal.
Second, I go through security and am the one that gets picked to be pat down... Okay... No big deal it is what it is.
Then, I go to sit down to wait for my 11:30 flight (it is about 10am at this point) and on the intercom comes this lovely voice, "For flight 178 to Colorado Springs... your incoming plane has been delayed an hour and a half, sorry for the inconvenience.." Okay... BIG DEAL! The airport I was landing in was an hour south of my home and the game where my brother was playing is an hour north. So this whole delay thing was going to cut it close to making it at game time. AHHHHH!!!
I keep my cool though, and just told myself it was going to work out... you can't always believe google maps time estimation... google doesn't speed!
So I boarded an hour and a half late and we soon took off. The plan:  "D" was going to pick me up really quick and we were going to rush to the game. All is good.
NOT!
Halfway through my flight... I hear another lovely voice on the intercom..."Attention passengers, we have to make an emergency landing due to a maintenance problem we have incurred. We will be turning around and making a stop in Las Vegas. Thank you for your understanding." (Who says I am understanding?)
So thirty minutes later I see this out my window...

And this is what I looked at for an hour as our flight was getting worked on.
We are now "suppose" to land in Colorado Springs at 6:30pm. My brothers game starts a 7. Aka. reality kicked in as I starred at the MGM... I wasn't going to make it.
But not only was I not going to make it... everyone at home that knows me and my family was going to watch the game. Cool right? Except that meant... there wasn't going to be anyone available to come get me from the airport. Lovely.
And to make matters worse... my phone is blinking red at me as it slowly begins to dieeee......

Yes. this was a travelers nightmare. The "Horror" story you think you will never experience.

But as anything in life, it could have been worse.
And I am happy to say I am sitting at home right now writing this. I did indeed make it. I did miss the game. We, unfortunately, couldn't pull off the win :(
But here I sit... waiting for my family to come home so I can finally see them! :)
